Throughout the year, the convent offers a wealth of cultural events to watch for both locals and foreigners who visit.
Padel
Padel is one of the activities you can enjoy at the Hotel, there are four outdoor courts with all the conditions for this sport. Come and play to the sound of nature, surrounded by a wonderful landscape.
“A Cascata” swimming Pool
Situated near the Games Room, you will find the round swimming pool, surrounded by a
landscape full of colours, for adults and children, with a terrace for light lunches and snacks.
Currently, both the esplanade and the sun loungers comply with the safety rules
recommended by the Health Authorities and Tourism of Portugal, both in terms of social
distancing and its disinfection and cleaning.
“O Lago” swimming pool
With a stunning view, previously used as a tank for watering in the garden, you have at your disposal the rectangular swimming pool or the Lake Carranca.
Exclusively for adults, have a chance to refresh yourself and relax in this space with Alentejo’s sunset as a background.

Activities for Children
The contact with Nature, the visit to the sheepfold or to our donkey – Gaspar – the walks provide an unforgettable experience in the eyes of our children. In “The Waterfall” room you will find games, books to paint, puzzles, etc. In the rooms, Disney Channel or Panda Channel allow your child to have fun at all times. Tennis and the Swimming Pool are also among the most popular activities for this generation. Why not take this opportunity to interest your child in our heritage through small games? The discovery of animals or details such as small creeks on the tile panels, stories told using them, are undoubtedly a playful way of opening the children’s appetite.
The Elections Room of the General Fathers
The Elections Room of the General Fathers, the current Hall, next to the Restaurant, and the Cloister lend itself to moments of reading and rest.
Both have wireless network and the lounge a computer for free use of our guests. In summer, the freshness of the cloister invites a lemonade made with lemons from the Estate.
In winter enjoy the warmth of the central fireplace in the lounge while enjoying fine wine accompanied by the excellent sausages and cheeses of the region.
Tennis Court
For lovers of this sport, the Convent has a tennis court, ask for rackets and balls at the reception and enjoy your free time in a healthy way.
Sustainability
The Hotel Convento de São Paulo approaches the territory and its resources in a structurally sustainable way, and both its construction about 900 years ago and its development since then have always taken into account the respect for resources and a their rational management.
That is why all the rainwater that slides down the mountains is used to irrigate the surrounding ecosystem and its cork and fruit trees. The same happens with the honey that is produced in hives located on our property, with the orange juice served at breakfast, and with the solar panels that already produce 80% of the energy used in the Hotel.
Pedestrian Trails
Located in a property of about 750 hectares, the Hotel gives its guests the opportunity of enjoying its duly signposted trails through the Serra d’Ossa, ideal for those seeking outdoor activities in direct contact with nature. With different degrees of difficulty, you can start by exploring the vegetable gardens, gardens and orchards that surround the houses, wandering through these places without obeying trails or indications.
If you are adventurous, we recommend the longest walks, of 6,12 km or 20 Km, where you can include a visit to the Chapel of Our Lady of Monte Virgem, the Village of Serra and the Fountain of Senhora da Saúde. Regardless of your choice, the freshness of the morning will always be the most opportune moment to get to know these paths, and you can do it in a group or alone.
