Country Hotel?>Keen to appreciate its uniqueness, the Convento de São Paulo invest in a new form of status in relation to his location. Housed in a 600 hectare estate, our first bet is on the rural surrounds. Already with a wide range of programs of agricultural activities, as well as two walking or mountain biking trails, the Hotel is now preparing a series of new products that allow our guests a rural experience.

 

Gardens and Orchards

<br/ ><br/ ><br/ >Gardens and Orchards?>Secluded in a 600 acres property of woodland, the Convent is surrounded by a series of different gardens, with absolutely unique ambiances that change from season to season throughout the year. Under the different light and colours of each season, these gardens seem to offer something new every time you visit them. A stroll around the Convent, under orange or olive trees, leads us to exquisite and magical places. Waterways, the fountain of Nossa Senhora da Saúde, the sounds and smells of Nature all around you make you feel you’re in a mystic place, unlike anything you have ever experienced before.

 

A Cascata Pool

A Cascata Pool?>In a environment of mountains, where the shaded areas can be valued and enjoy the sun appears between the trees, enjoy snacks and the company of children who will find here an ideal pool.










 

Bar

Bar?>The bar “A Cascata” is an excellent choice of a place to relax in an informal atmosphere. Here you can also play card games, chess/draughts, snooker or you can calmly read your newspaper or maybe the book “The Convento of S. Paulo”, available at the reception desk, where you will find further information on the Convent.




 

Kids

Kids?>Bring your children along and let them enjoy the close contact with Nature, its sounds, colours and odours. Let them wander through the gardens and discover a million wonderful hiding places and visit the sheep shed to watch the ewes and their lambs. It will be an experience they will never forget. Indoors, in the room “ A Cascata “, they will find games and puzzles, painting books, crayons, colour pencils, etc. But if they would rather watch TV in their room, Disney Channel or Panda are some of the most popular cartoon networks available. Tennis or the swimming-pool are also among kids' favourite activities. And if you want your children to learn about heritage and history, there’s plenty around to attract their attention. Ask them to discover an animal or a small waterway in some of the tile panels, while you point out their beauty and colouring and tell them stories based on figures depicted in the panels.

 

Lounge

Lounge?>The “Election Room” of the former Head Priests, is currently our Lounge, next to the Restaurant, where you can enjoy a tranquil atmosphere to read or simply relax. There is also wireless Internet access and a computer for our guests to use. During the summer, its coolness makes it the ideal place to escape the hot temperatures outside and enjoy a glass of lemonade, fresh made from our own lemons. In winter, sit close to the fireplace and enjoy a glass of excellent red wine, while you taste some of the local varieties of cheese and sausages.

How to reach us

The Convento de São Paulo, half way up the Serra d' Ossa, in the heart of the Alentejo province, is 180 km away from Lisbon and at a 76 km distance from Badajoz (Spain).

Reaching us is quite simple: Leave Lisbon heading South, choosing the A2 highway, at Km 56 leave A2 and enter A6, direction Évora up to exit nr.7 to Estremoz. Enter the N4 road and exit after driving 1,5 km, to the N381 to Redondo. At Km 15 you will find, to your left, the sign indicating you have arrived at the Convento de São Paulo.

If you are coming from the South, take the IP2, past Beja, Vidigueira and Portel. At the crossing with road N256, turn right towards Reguengos de Monsaraz, where you should take the road N381 to your left, direction Redondo/Estremoz. Pass Redondo and 2 km past the village of Aldeia da Serra you will find the gates to the Convento de São Paulo on your right.

If coming from Spain, cross the border to Portugal at Caia, take de A6 highway to Estremoz until exit nr 7. You will then enter road N4 and after a 1,5 km drive, exit and take N381, direction Redondo. At km 15 you will find the sign indicating you have arrived at the Convento de São Paulo
